Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyeama’s attempt to address a gathering of Nigerians in Vienna, Austria on Sunday was interrupted by agitators for Biafran separation from Nigeria.
Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) disrupted the event, informing Onyeama of a litany of grievances against Nigeria. When the minister tried to address the issues that they raised, he was shouted down and he disappeared from the room quietly, or “shamefully” as one IPOB member put it.
Watch the incident below:
While trying to address the points made by one of the protesters, Onyeama said many of them were “romanticising” war and were not born during the Nigerian civil war, which lasted from 1967-70. But things kicked off before he could complete his speech.
