Iran’s state-owned Press TV during its Africa Today programme yesterday discussed the persistent violent attacks in what it called Muslim Herders and Christian Farmers Clash in Nigeria.
Host Amina Taylor asked her guests whether failure by the Nigerian authorities has led to unnecessary deaths. The guests including commentators Adamu Awudu and Jameel Muhammed didn’t seem to have much grasp on the issues and seemed to speaking in accordance with their biases.
Muhammed argued that President Muhammadu Buhari has “done a lot” to solve the problem, but it was a problem that started before he came to power in 2015. While the problem preceded Buhari’s presidency, it has escalated during under his watch and many Nigerians would argue that he has done very little to protect the victims from further attacks.
