Chelsea’s Victor Moses, still on a high after winning the FA Cup against Manchester United last Saturday, posted this tweet today that should be music to the ears of Nigerian fans.
Just want to say a huge thanks to all the fans who have supported me and the team this season at @ChelseaFC . Glad we could end it on a high for you on Saturday! Time now to focus on the World Cup and a big few weeks ahead with Nigeria 🇳🇬 👊🏿 pic.twitter.com/xAsaRgvK8a

It is a big few weeks indeed for Nigeria as the World Cup in Russia looms next month. Moses, arguably Nigeria’s most influential player, operating mainly as a winger, will be critical if Nigeria are to qualify from their World Cup Group D that includes Argentina, Croatia and Iceland.
But before they kick off against Croatia on 16 June in Kaliningrad, Moses, who plays at right wing-back for Chelsea had to put in a more defensive shift than usual against Manchester United to protect Chelsea’s 1-0 lead in the FA Cup final. His efforts against Ashley Young, Jesse Lingard and later Anthony Martial contributed in the Nigerian securing his first FA Cup winner’s medal.
Moses, who sent off as Chelsea lost in the final against Arsenal 12 months ago said after the win on Saturday: “I am very pleased. After what happened last year this was different and we are very pleased to win the game.
“I thought we were tremendous. Man United kept coming at us second half. In the first half I thought we had done very well and should have scored more goals, but we kept it cool and we were very solid at the back. We know we have the ability to defend.
“All the lads who have never won it before are very happy and we are very happy to win this FA Cup, it is very important for us.”
Moses will be back at Wembley on 2 June for Nigeria’s prestige friendly against England before the Super Eagles set off for Russia.
