Odion Ighalo moves to China

Watford’s Nigeria international striker Odion Ighalo completed the deal to move to Chinese Super League club Changchun Yatai yesterday for a fee thought to be worth £20m.

Ighalo joined Watford from Granada in July 2014 and scored 39 goals in 100 appearances during that time, including 20 as Watford secured promotion to the Premier League in 2014/15, and 17 during the club’s first campaign back in the top-flight last season.

The Nigerian shunned the advances of Crystal Palace and West Brom in the Premier League as the Chinese club are reportedly going to pay him close to £200,000 a week.

He has been unable to reproduce his previous rich vein of form this season, with only a goal in the Premier League scored in September last year.
