Ighalo slots in the winning goal

Ighalo is looking unstoppable

Watford’s Nigerian international striker Odion Ighalo scored the only goal yesterday as his team won away at Sunderland in the Premier League.

Ighalo now has 10 goals this season – the first Watford player to reach 10 goals in the Premier league and is joint-third in the season’s scoring charts.

Watch the goal:

Before the match Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce sent his defenders video clips on how to stop the Nigerian striker. But this was all in vain as Ighalo bamboozled Sebastian Coates before bundling in the only goal of the game in the fourth minute.

He could have had a hat-trick from chances that included two moves that turned his markers inside out if not for some slack finishing, desperate defending on the goal-line and brilliant saves from keeper Costel Pantilimon.

The Sunderland defenders couldn’t contain the skill, pace and power of Ighalo, who has now scored 26 league goals in 2015.

The former Granada striker said after the game: “We are happy we got the three points. We have difficult fixtures coming up. So we need to keep pushing to see how far we can go.’

Watch Ighalo’s post-match reaction:

On his recent scoring form he said: “I’m not getting carried away. I will keep working and keep helping my team.”
