Nigerian winger Ahmed Musa came off the bench after 34 minutes to score the two goals for Leicester that saw off Everton in an away FA Cup Third Round tie this afternoon.
Fellow Nigerian Wilfred Ndidi was handed his first start for Leicester after completing a £17m transfer from Genk in Belgium two days ago. Coach Claudio Ranieri expects Ndidi to fill the huge gap in defensive midfield created by the departure of N’Golo Kante to Chelsea last summer.
Everton took the lead via a Romelu Lukaku tap in from a low cross on 63 minutes. Musa levelled things three minutes later. It was a scrappy effort as the Nigerian’s left foot shot deflected off Everton defender Leighton Baines and then off the post, but the winger reacted quickly to score from the rebound.

There was nothing scrappy about Musa’s second goal four minutes later. A superb one-two with Danny Drinkwater found Musa free for the return ball in the box to side-foot into the net.
Ranieri was full of praise for his team’s reaction to going a goal down and especially for Ndidi: “Ndidi trained just two training sessions with us but played with fantastic personality. He recovered a lot of balls and played well. For 20 years old to make his first game against Everton, it’s unbelievable.”
