Abubakar Shekau: hands up if your Goodluck is about to run out

Will the “surge” against Boko Haram bring Goodluck back?

Our man “on ground” in Lagos is claiming that stories of recent successes in the battle against Boko Haram are boosting Goodluck Jonathan’s chances of winning the (s)elections.

Boko Haram have been put on the back foot in recent weeks by the Nigerian Army in joint efforts with soldiers from Chad, Cameroon and Niger.  Their alleged hideout in Sambisa Forest is said to be under siege.  Goodluck Jonathan recently had a photo op with soldiers who recaptured Baga from the militants.

Enquiring minds are wondering why the concerted effort now when it was inertia even when over 200 girls were kidnapped in Chibok.  But, our source claims voters are not bothered and recent efforts are playing well with them.

There are rumours that Goodluck is planning to pull Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau out of his fedora hat on the eve of the (s)election like Barack Obama did with the killing of Osama Bin Laden.

Additionally, our source claims that several retired generals like Ibrahim Babangida and Yakubu Danjuma are solidly behind Goodluck because they don’t trust his opponent Buhahari.

The source claims that Goodluck’s PDP is making inroads into an APC stronghold like Lagos State.  He claimed that people in Lagos are tired of the APC and its baron Bola Tinubu.  The source was not sure that PDP will win in the state, but admitted that it would be a close race.
