Anyone who had the misfortune of watching the Minister for Transport and former governor Rivers State Rotimi Amaechi’s disorientated interview on AIT’s Focus Nigeria Programme, would have concluded that something was not quite right with the All Progressives Congress (APC) gangster masquerading as a politician.
Amaechi’s incoherence covered, among other things, how the current governor Nyesom Wike couldn’t speak English, how the Supreme Court was compromised to ensure Wike got a favourable judgment, how judges could not stop the military from making arrests in the state, why President Muhammadu Buhari was his “brother” rather than former president Goodluck Jonathan and how there was “peace” in the state when he was governor, unlike now.
But someone who knew Amaechi back in the 1990s has informed us that even then that the minister was known to be “mentally unstable”. The source claimed that a woman Amaechi was desperate to marry rejected him on the advice of another politician close to Amaechi, who is currently in the APC and contesting for a legislative position in the (s)election rerun tomorrow.
The politician told the woman to avoid Amaechi like a plague if she knew what was good for her because of his alleged mental health issues. She acted on his advice and rejected the former governor who married his wife Judith 22 years ago.
