Diezani Madueke, the beleaguered former oil minister, who was arrested on Friday in London by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA), is facing the prospect of more incriminating evidence from Nigeria being added to the case against her.
The NCA stated (without mentioning her name) that the arrest was in relation to bribery and money laundering and that the investigations started in 2013. One of Madueke’s assistants confirmed on Sunday to our source that she was arrested.
On Friday night, Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency the EFCC raided Madueke’s home in the Asokoro district of Abuja and sealed off the property.
We have been informed that a lot of documents were seized during the raid and they will handed over to the NCA in London this week.
