Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) boss Attahiru Jega has been begging president Goodluck Jonathan to allow him stay on till after the (s)election.
Our source reported last week that Jega was toast because ruling party PDP bigwigs believe he is working for the opposition. A replacement had been lined up with the expectation that Jega would be sent on leave on the 1st of March.
But the INEC chief pleaded with the president for patience, stating that some of his staff are compromised and working against the president’s interests. Jega pledged loyalty to the president and it is looking like this may spare him the axe.
