We have received information that the Nigerian Labour Congress in Imo State and market traders associations have been meeting in Owerri, the state capital, to plan “mass action” against the governor Rochas Okorocha.
State employees and pensioners have not been paid for months.
The plans, which are at an advanced stage, involve bringing the state to a “standstill” because “most people are fed up” with the governor. The activists will demand that the protests will not stop unless Okorocha leaves office.
Our source could not reveal when the action will start but said there was “mass discontent” in the state and the protests were “imminent”.
