President Buhahahari has relegated Bobo Chicago Bola Tinubu, the former Lagos State governor, mobster and APC kingmaker, to the background.
Tinubu handpicked the vice president Yemi Osinbajo, and Buhahari, according to our source, hardly informs his Number Two about his movements. Most of the liaison between the two is now done through the president’s PA.
The source claims that Buhahahari’s main concern is his “military contituency” and he has surrounded himself with colleagues from his days in the army. This has meant former president Olusegun Obasanjo, also a retired general, has become relevant again.
Several of these ex soldiers are expected to play key roles in the new administration. There is talk that Abdulrahman Dambazau, a retired general, is poised to become National Security Adviser.
The source claimed that Buhahari’s delay in naming key officials and apparent drift demonstrated that the new government “has no programmes”. The source also claimed that Buhahari aides have asked for the plans of the previous administration and it appears they intend to just continue where the Goodluck Jonathan government left off.
