The new Director-General (DG) at the DSS Lawal Daura has ordered all the top spooks in the organisation to move to Maiduguri in northeast Nigeria and the hotbed of the Boko Haram insurgency.
A source at the DSS has revealed that the “ogas” are up in arms about being forced to leave the comfort of Abuja for the insecurity of Maiduguri. Several are said to be considering resigning or early retirement.
Daura was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in July this year, replacing the former DG Ita Ekpeyong.
The order to move the DSS head honchos to Maiduguri follows on from a similar presidential directive to move the command centre of the Nigerian military to the Borno State capital.
