Imo State governor Rochas Okorocha treated All Progressives Congress (APC) bigwigs yesterday to what was tagged a “Southeast Mega Rally” for President Muhammadu Buhari.
Attendees included the new national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, Kano State governor Umar Ganduje, former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) acting chairman Ali Modu Sheriff and others.
A source at the event has informed Naijiant.com that members of the public were paid 1,000 naira ($2.76) each to attend. Pictures were circulating online shortly afterwards of APC officials handing out the cash to those that showed up.
When our source challenged them on why the crowd was being paid, one official said “people are entitled to transport fare”. Our source said “there is hunger in the land, many workers have not been paid for several months by Okorocha”.
It is understood that the rally is part of Okorocha’s plan to install his son-in-law Uche Nwosu as the next governor of the state at the expiration of Okorocha’s second term in 2019.
