Bobo Chicago Bola Tinubu the former Lagos State governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) leader said yesterday that: “a latrine pit of 16 years can’t be cleaned up in 30 days because the mess is much”.
Tinubu unleashed his lavatory remarks while breaking the Ramadan fast with President Buhahari at the presidential villa in Abuja.
The backdrop for toilet-mouth Tinubu’s comments was the widespread perception that the president was slow and had not hit the ground running since he was sworn in at the end of May. Tinubu was therefore claiming that the mess made by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rule in the last 16 years was going to be difficult to shift.
If Tinubu were remotely interested in clearing the “latrine pit of 16 years”, he would have looked a lot more closely at the people that made the mess. He wouldn’t have had to look far.
Among those breaking the fast with Tinubu and the president were Rotimi Amaechi and Audu Ogbeh. Amaechi was a PDP member from 1999 before defecting to the to the APC in November 2013. In that time he was Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2007 and governor of Rivers State from 2007 to May this year. Amaechi made a significant contribution to the “mess” that filled the “latrine pit” in Rivers State.
Audu Ogbeh was PDP Chairman from 2001 to 2005, contributing his own quota to the smelly deposit in the “latrine pit”. There are many more significant contributions to the “latrine pit” from APC stalwarts such as Nasir El-Rufai, the current governor of Kaduna State. He was minister for the Federal Capital Territory from 2003 to 2007 under a very corrupt PDP regime. A newspaper claimed recently that he had 90bn worth of assets. To be worth that amount means a significant share of the dump in the “pit latrine”.
Other heavy (s)hitters in the APC include Atiku Abubakar, vice president under the PDP from 1999 to 2007, current senate president Bukola Saraki, a PDP governor of Kwara State from 2003 to 2011 and PDP senator from 2011 till defection to the APC last year. Both men move around with the heavy stench of corruption from the pile they made from public office and the crap they left behind for Nigerians to deal with.
With friends like these from the PDP, Tinubu’s claims about a “latrine pit” stink to the high heavens of hypocrisy. This is why Alphonsus Nwosu asked recently: “Is the APC a River Jordan, which once you enter, you get cleansed of your PDPness?” Former governor of Kaduna State Balarabe Musa also said: “APC is constituted by at least 70% of decampees from PDP, raising questions as to how much different it is from the PDP”.
There is no difference. It is the same crap. The APC government would be unable to clean “a latrine pit of 16 years” created by the PDP in 30 days or 30 years, simply because they contributed to the crap and they are busy filling that “latrine pit” with more of the same. And as Fela Kuti would have said: “We don tire to carry anymore dem shit”.
