The former governor of Rivers State Rotimi Amaechi is facing allegations of corruption from the new government in his state, who have set up a judge-led inquiry to investigate Amaechi’s administration.
Among the allegations are claims that Amaechi has $757m in US banks.
The former governor robustly denied the claims at a gathering in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, yesterday. He denied he has a foreign bank account and challenged the commission to prove him wrong.
He said in response to claims that he has $757m, that if they “just” gave him $100m from that amount, he would leave Nigerian politics for good.
