Nigeria Immigration Service apologises for the criminal acts of its officers

6 May 2019

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has, via its official Twitter account, issued an apology for the behaviour of immigration officers against a Nigerian traveller at Lagos Airport in October 2017.

The apology came after a Naijiant.com report of the incident was posted to the NIS Twitter account. The NIS wrote in response:

More on the criminal behaviour of the immigration officers can be found in this report.

Unfortunately, the Naijiant.com correspondent that filed this report can no longer remember the names of the offenders. He added, “besides I’m not sure about the sincerity of the guys behind the handle. But I give them props for the professionalism in their response”.

Incidentally, the same report was sent to the NIS boss Mohammed Babandede around the time it was published in 2017 and it didn’t get a response.
