As I was watching a programme on BEN TV called “Uncommon Transformation” about the alleged great work that governor Godswill Akpabio has done in Akwa Ibom State, I received a report that he collapsed at a function in his state and was flown to a hospital in the UK.
Watch the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Information produced programme here:
There is a Naijiant.com article about the failures of our rulers in providing adequate healthcare in their domain and preferring to take advantage of facilities abroad.
Akpabio’s failure to build decent hospitals in his state is putting his own life at risk. As is common with most Nigerian rulers, foreign hospitals are the favoured destination for treatment. But if you are unlucky, you may not have enough time in the critical hours of a traumatic incident to reach a foreign hospital. Any governor with a bit of sense should ensure the sort of facilities they take advantage of abroad should be available in their state, for their own good, if not for the good of their people.
