The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the Niger Delta Development Corporation (NDDC) has been looted of 7bn naira ($35.1m) for ensuring that the All Progressives Congress (APC) wins the Rivers State legislative (s)election rerun this Saturday.
In a Facebook post, Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike’s Senior Special Assistant for New Media, Oraye St Franklin alleged that Ibim Semenitari, acting Managing Director of the NNDC and former Commissioner for Information, under former governor of Rivers state and current Minister of transport, Rotimi Amaechi, delivered the money to Amaechi’s hotel in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
St Franklin wrote:
“7 BILLION NAIRA FREE MONEY FOR RIVERS PEOPLE
At the dead of the night yesterday, Ibim delivered 7Billion naira to Amaechi in both Novotel and Le Meridien where he is lodged simultaneously.
The money is in N1000 denomination and all in mint. It was withdrawn directly from the Central Bank of Nigeria. That money belongs to Rivers people.
Every Rivers man must demand nothing less than N100,000 from them. There are reports that APC leaders are planning to withhold a huge chunk of the money. Collect your 100,000 naira and clean mouth. It is our money.”
