Fashola’s web of corruption

The former two-term governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola has been revealed to have spent 78m naira ($390,000) of state funds on an upgrade of his website.

The revelation came from the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency and details of the contract awards in 2014 are available here.

Much of Fashola’s corruption has been ignored by the Lagos-based media, many of whom he was bribing to help launder his image.

In all likelihood, he will be part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet, despite the latter’s posturing about fighting corruption.
