President Muhammadu Buhari, currently holed up in London, with speculation running wild about his health, left London exactly a year ago today, on 10 February 2016, to return to Nigeria after another “vacation”.
Then, the president attended the EU Parliament in Strasbourg and then arrived in London for a conference on Syrian refugees. Many at the time, including Naijiant.com, wondered what such a conference had to do with Nigeria. But after the conference, Buhari decided to stay on in London to “rest” for five days.
He then returned to Nigeria at the end of that period. Some sources suggested that the president had used the conference as an excuse to visit London for some ongoing treatment for an undisclosed illness. He then left Nigeria for the UK again in June 2016 to treat an “ear infection”.
This time around, Buhari left Nigeria on 19 January on a “medical vacation” and was due back on Monday, but his return has been delayed because he allegedly needed some “tests”. There are unconfirmed reports that he may return tomorrow (Saturday 11 February).
