President Muhammadu Buhari left Nigeria on 19 January for a 10-day “vacation” in London, which was meant to include a “medical checkup”.
A few days into his stay in London, rumours started spreading online that he had died. This was denied by his spokesmen and his officials soon released pictures showing the president watching TV, receiving guests and with his wife, Aisha, in London. Some have argued that the pictures are fake and have insisted that Buhari should address Nigerians to reassure them that he is still alive.
A source close to the medical team treating the president has informed Naijiant.com that the Nigerian ruler is currently “undergoing tests”. Due to patient confidentiality, the source would not reveal the nature of the president’s illness or where he is being treated.
However, the source raised the possibility that Buhari’s scheduled return to Nigeria on Monday 6 February may be unlikely.
